Suspect On Electronic Monitoring Accused Of Breaking Into SouthPark Bakery

CHARLOTTE, NC — Detectives have arrested the man they say broke into a SouthPark area bakery in June and stole a cash register.

Around 6:20am on June 20th, police say someone broke into Gigi’s Cupcakes on Sharon Road. Surveillance video shows the suspect breaking the front door glass and entering the business.

He then proceeds to go behind the counter, rips out the cash register and takes off.

The suspect was later identified as 20-year-old Jalin Brown. Police were able to locate Brown using his electronic monitor, which he was issued while awaiting trial on unrelated commercial breaking or entering charges.

In relation to the Gigi’s break-in, Brown has been charged with felony breaking or entering and larceny after breaking or entering.

According Mecklenburg County Jail records, Brown has been arrested more than a dozen times since 2017 on various breaking or entering and larceny related charges.
