Surveillance Video Shows Brazen Break-In Of Popular NoDa Ice Cream Shop
CHARLOTTE, NC. — A popular NoDa ice cream shop is closed after thieves shattered the window. Surveillance video shows teens making a run for it with the store’s cash drawer. Pop Bar is expected to open in a few days.
It happened around 11:30 Monday night. The video shows one teen smash through the window of Pop Bar with a piece of cinder block. He reaches his hand through the hole to unlock the door from inside. Another teen sprints in, goes behind the counter and swipes the cash drawer and runs out of the store.
The police report says they stole $246. The owner of Pop Bar says police found the cash drawer in the parking lot of the YMCA.
Down the road from the ice cream shop, Bold Missy Brewery has been broken into twice this summer.
“They actually came in through that door and got all the way in, it looks like they used a rock or something,” says Manager of Bold Missy Brewery Lybbi Roth.
CMPD crime mapping shows at least 17 commercial burglaries within a mile of Pop Bar over the past two months.
CMPD has not said if any of the cases are connected.
