All-American Game Of The Week Preview: Butler And Hough

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The high school football season begins on Thursday in Matthews with the 7th annual Charlotte Kickoff Night.

Butler and Hough will square off at 8pm from the Sportsplex at Matthews Stadium. The matchup figures to be a strong one between two 4AA schools that have their sights set on deep playoff runs.

The Bulldogs return 11 starters from a team that went 9-3 last season while the Huskies have 10 returning starters, they went 11-3 last year.

Both sides feel like the game should be a good measuring stick to start the season.

“It’s not really about making a statement,” Butler head coach Brian Hales said. “We’re just trying to go out there and test ourselves against a good opponent and see where we’re at.”

“We take each week independently,” Hough head coach Matthew Jenkins said. “We’re going to measure ourselves against Butler and see where we’re at compared to them.”
