Panthers Backup Quarterback Battle Continues
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – All eyes were on the Carolina Panthers backup quarterbacks at practice on Saturday. Cam Newton was not on the field, but instead was inside Bank of America Stadium getting treatment on his left mid-foot sprain. Ron Rivera believes Newton will return to practice “pretty soon.”
The Panthers will not be bringing in any other quarterbacks in the meantime. Rivera is confident that Kyle Allen or Will Grier could take over. He has not seen enough from either quarterback though to name a backup.
The Panthers host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday for their final preseason game.
