Wilson’s World: It’s the 3rd Annual Charlotte Knights Women In Baseball Night Tonight at BB&T Ballpark
Gates for tonight's Women in Baseball Night with the Charlotte Knights open at 6pm.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It’s is all about the women tonight at BB&T Ballpark when the Charlotte Knights hold their 3rd Annual Women in Baseball Night. Wilson was at the ballpark this morning to tell us more about tonight’s event which will be highlighting both the real women of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League and the actors that brought the 1992 hit movie “A League of Their Own” to the big screen.
Fans at the game will have the opportunity to meet actress Megan Cavanaugh who played the unforgettable Marla Hooch in “A League of Their Own.” Megan joined Wilson and they enjoyed talking about her career, favorite comedians, and of course the movie and how much fun she has meeting “League” fans. Not only was the character of Marla entertaining on the baseball diamond, but she could perform a very entertaining version of the classic song ‘It Had to Be You’ on a bar stage, thanks to Megan.
Joining Wilson and Megan to talk about women in baseball were Maybelle Blair, Shirley Burkovich, and Sister Toni Ann Palermo legendary members of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League as well as USA Baseball Gold Medalist Anna Kimbrell.
