Hurricane Dorian Decimates the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian is slowly making its way along the southeast coast. The storm is blamed for at least 7 deaths in the Bahamas but the prime minister says the number could go up.  Parts of the island are completely underwater.  Thousands of homes and businesses have been heavily damaged or destroyed.

Duke Energy Heading to Coast to Help with Hurricane Recovery Efforts

Evacuation orders and emergency preparations are happening along the Georgia and Garolina coast.  About 450 Duke Energy lineworkers, damage assessors and support personnel will leave Charlotte today and head to Florence, South Carolina.  Duke says 9-thousand workers will be available to help.

Senate Leader McConnell Says He Would Take Gun Bill to Senate Floor if President Will Approve

Federal Judge Unseals Court Records Involving Jeffrey Epstein

Happening today– a federal judge will discuss unsealing new court records involving sex abuse claims against Jeffrey Epstein.  The financier took his own life last month while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.  It’s not clear who is named in the records.

British Prime Minister Trying to Push Through Brexit Vote

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has suffered a major defeat of his Brexit agenda in parliament and says he will call a new general election.
some of his fellow conservatives rejected his pleas.   Today, they will try to force a bill through parliament that would stop the so called no-deal Brexit from happening on October 31.
