Man Accused Of Murdering Pregnant Woman Facing Additional Murder Charge For Unborn Child

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have signed an additional arrest warrant against Edward Garner, Sr. for the murder of an unborn child.

Investigators say the medical examiner’s office was able to determine the victim, Aiesha Summers, was 24 weeks pregnant at the time she was murdered.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit has signed an additional arrest warrant against Edward Garner, Sr. for the murder of an unborn child.

The medical examiner’s office says the victim from yesterday’s homicide, Aiesha Summers, was 24 weeks pregnant at the time was she murdered, according to a news release.

Garner is still on the run from law enforcement.

WCCB dug into Garner’s lengthy criminal past. Records show Garner is a convicted felon on drug related charges from 2008. He’s been arrested three other times in Mecklenburg county in 2017.  Charges include communicating threats, firing into an occupied property, drug trafficking charges and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to a domestic violence criminal complaint, a woman who says she is Garner’s ex-girlfriend said that she wants him ‘locked up for a very long time’. She says he sent her threatening text messages and shot nine bullets into her home.

Garner is also accused of abducting two children. His three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old. They have been found safe. Read more below.

Update:

The Amber Alert, that was issued following a homicide at an apartment in southwest Charlotte, has been cancelled after authorities say both children were located.  Police say Edward Garner, Jr. voluntarily came to police headquarters this morning after seeing his photo on various media outlets.

Aziyah Garner was found safe with a relative on Pineburr Road last night.  Dior Muhammad was found safe with a relative on Trade Street.  Police say they have also located the vehicle belonging to the suspect on Nations Ford Road.  However, the suspect, Edward Silk Garner, Sr., is still wanted.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say Edward Silk Garner Senior is wanted for the murder of Aiesha Summers. He is considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a white 2000 S430 Mercedes with a sunroof and North Carolina plates HCV-1629.

Officers found Summers shot inside an apartment at Tryon Park Rivergate yesterday afternoon. She died at the scene. Police say the incident was likely domestic related.

Police say Garner is traveling with Edward Garner Junior, and that he also took his children.

One-year old Aziyah Garner, has been found safe, and three-year old Dior Muhammed is still missing.

Dior was last seen wearing black pants and a gray shirt.
