Charlotte Runners Hit The Brixx To Help Children With Serious Illnesses

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte area runners participated in the 2019 Hit the Brixx race Saturday in Uptown to help raise money for children with serious illnesses.

Officials say roughly 1,300 runners participated in the 5K and 10K races, which raised more than $18,000 for Kid’s Path.

Kid’s Path, a unique program for children and teens through the age of eighteen and living with serious illnesses or conditions, has a pediatric care team that offers physical, emotional, and spiritual care for the patients and their families to help increase quality of life.

Since starting the Hit the Brixx race in 2000, officials say Brixx, a Charlotte-born pizza company serving customers at seven Charlotte-area locations and 29 locations across seven states, has raised more than $350,000 for Kid’s Path.

Participants in Saturday’s race were also treated to a hot pizza buffet after the race courtesy of Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, along with complimentary brews from local and regional breweries Birdsong, Divine Barrel, New Belgium, NoDa, Olde Mecklenberg and Sierra Nevada.
