Arrest Made In Murder Of West Charlotte Gas Station Clerk

The Latest:

CMPD Detectives have charged 30-year-old Desmin Logan for the murder of 50-year-old Ismael Doumbia.

On Monday, June 3rd, 2019, Doumbia was shot and killed at the Shell gas station on Freedom Drive during an attempted robbery.

Detectives developed Logan as a suspect during the course of the investigation and he was taken into custody on Monday, September 23rd, 2019.

Logan has been charged with Murder and Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Police say the case is still under investigation.

There was a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Detectives are searching for the man they say shot and killed a convenience store clerk in west Charlotte during an overnight armed robbery.

The crime happened around 3:20am at the Shell gas station on Freedom Drive near Enderly Road.  Police say 50-year-old Ismael Doumbia was shot when a masked suspect tried to rob the store at gunpoint.

Doumbia was taken to Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

CMPD has released the following videos (still photos can be seen above) of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward, in addition to the $5,000 reward offered by CMPD, for information leading to an arrest in this case.
