CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will host an event at headquarters on Wednesday, September 25th recognizing the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.
The day was designated by Congress to honor and remember homicide victims, as well as their families, friends and communities.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6pm at CMPD HQ located at 601 E. Trade Street. Officials say Former Senator Malcolm Graham will speak at the event.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their loved one. Light refreshments will also be served for those in attendance.
Charlotte has had 79 homicides so far in 2019.
