Rock Hill Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Wednesday Shooting Incident

ROCK HILL, SC — A 60-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after police say he shot at a vehicle Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 11am outside a home on Florence Street. The victim told police he was dropping a friend off at the home when Mark Hayden came outside with a handgun.

As the victim drove away, police say Hayden fired a shot at his vehicle.

When officers responded to the residence, police say they found two bullet casings and a stolen firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

Hayden was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence, and Possession of a Stolen Pistol.

Police say Finley Road Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution. No one was injured in the shooting.
