Wilson’s World: Getting a Science Lesson while Previewing the ROVAL™ 400

The 2019 Bank of America ROVAL 400 festivities kick off today with the ROVAL™ 400 race on Sunday.

CONCORD, N.C. – Wilson was at Charlotte Motor Speedway this morning not only previewing the events for this weekend’s Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 but also getting a lesson on the science behind creating a jack-o-lantern with a pumpkin and a blow torch (yep, a blow torch).

The Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 is the first road course race in  NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.  The 2.28 mile course has 17 turns with a 35 foot elevation change. The cutoff race in Round 1 will see drivers duel door to door in one of the most challenging and dramatic races on the schedule.

Fans can “Rock the ROVAL™” when Yacht Rock Revue hits the stage following the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Drive for the Cure 200 on Saturday night.  The party will also feature country music star Tim Dugger and driver appearances on the Trackside Live stage in the infield.

On Sunday, Country hitmaker Chris Lane will crank up the excitement for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs with a must-see concert at 12:30 p.m. on the speedway’s frontstretch.  The green flag for the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 goes up after the concert at 2:30pm.  Check out the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s website at charlottemotorspeedway.com for information on events, ticket prices, parking and more.

Today CMS will hold their annual STEM Expo at the zMAX Dragway. Students will take part in hands-on STEM demonstrations, see live emergency response shows and have the opportunity to test their speed and agility just like the pit crews.  The event runs until 1pm this afternoon.
