Two Women Sexually Assaulted At The Same North Charlotte Apartment Complex

CHARLOTTE, NC. — Police say two women were sexually assaulted at the same north Charlotte apartment complex weeks apart. One of the victims is a teenager.

CMPD thinks the same man is responsible, but they’re having a tough time identifying him. The sexual assaults both happened at Maple Run Apartments on Canterwood Drive.

Police say the suspect broke into the back door of a 39-year-old woman’s apartment around 3:45 in the morning on September 21st. The police report says he got into bed with her and sexually assaulted her, then took off.

Then nearly a month later, around 3:30 in the morning on October 25th, police say a man broke into a 42-year-old woman’s apartment and sexually assaulted her 16-year-old daughter.

Residents want the guy behind bars.

“I don’t sleep. I don’t sleep. Sometimes I go to sleep 3 or 4 am thinking you know, what if that guy comes back in here, what if somebody comes in here and harms my kids,” says resident Missy Reyes.

Neighbors say they’ve seen security guards around the complex.  Reyes and others are still concerned because there are a lot of children living in the area.
“I don’t let me kids play outside at all. ”

Police are asking neighbors to be more aware of their surroundings.

The property manager for the apartment complex says they have  surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as an unknown male, average (medium) build wearing dark clothing.
