Suspect Charged In Southwest Charlotte Shooting That Left One Person Seriously Injured

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has charged man in connection to a shooting that sent one person to the hospital with life threatening injuries on October 21st.

Dimingo Coleman, 41, has been charged with shooting Keith Johnson, 51, multiple times on West Woodlawn Road around 7:35pm.

Police say Johnson was found behind a building and taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown.

After issuing warrants for his arrest, police say they located Coleman driving on East Woodlawn Road around 9:30pm Thursday. Officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, but say the suspect proceeded to lead them on a brief vehicle pursuit.

Officers say Coleman collided with another vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended on Old Pineville Road.

He is charged with attempted first degree murder, felony conspiracy, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, larceny of auto, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while license revoked, reckless driving, hit-and-run, fleeing or attempt to elude law enforcement and resist/delay/obstruct arrest.
