CHARLOTTE, NC — Mayor Vi Lyles delivered her acceptance speech Tuesday night in front of a crowd of supporters near Uptown.

Mayor Lyles’ watch party was held at Sweet Lew’s BBQ on Belmont Avenue in north Charlotte.

Only a fraction of the county’s precincts had reported when Lyles’ delivered her acceptance speech, but the numbers showed a seeming landslide victory over her Republican challenger David Rice.

Lyles’ first became mayor of Charlotte in 2017. She was elected to Charlotte City Council in 2013 and mayor pro-tem in 2015.

She is the first two-term mayor for Charlotte since 2011.
