Wilson’s World: 10th Annual Speedway Christmas Kicks off November 22nd
CONCORD, N.C. – This Friday marks the 10th year that the Charlotte Motor Speedway will turn into North Pole South with the Speedway Christmas. Wilson stopped in this morning to get a preview of what is new at the holiday light extravaganza and was entertained with Christmas harmonies thanks to the musical voices of ShBoom Acapella Quartet. He also had a lot of fun with a group of kids decorating a Christmas tree, making crafts, enjoying S’mores and talking to Santa.
Visitors to Speedway Christmas will enjoy the beauty of over 4 million lights on the 3.75 mile course that includes most of the oval, infield and the ROVAL™. Drivers tune their radio in to station 101.3 FM to enjoy the beautiful lights-to-music drive.
Be sure to make a stop in at the family friendly Christmas Village which includes a 50′ ferris wheel, the petting zoo, Bethlehem village and an all new 100′ slide. Enjoy family fun and games, have your picture taken with Santa and enjoy making S’mores over a fire pit.
And don’t forget that you can enjoy favorite holiday movies on the giant 16,000- square foot high definition TV Thursday through Sunday. Movies that will be shown include “ELF,” “Home Alone,” “The Polar Express,” “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation,” “The Star,” and “A Christmas Story.” Check out website for dates. If you want to stay inside and still see the movie, they will be showing the movies inside Christmas Village as well.
The Speedway Christmas lights will be open beginning Friday, November 22nd Monday through Sunday (except for Christmas Day) until January 5th . The Christmas Village is open Thursdays through Sundays beginning Friday, November 22nd through Sunday, December 29th.
