CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police release the name of a man who was killed in north Charlotte wreck over the weekend.
John Johnson, 50, was killed after he crashed his Ford Taurus on North Tryon Street just before 11:30pm on November 23rd, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Johnson was reportedly driving on the I-85 Connector when his vehicle struck the center median and lost control. Johnson’s vehicle then traveled through the intersection with North Tryon Street and struck a pillar of the Light Rail bridge connector.
The vehicle ended up on its roof in the northbound lanes of North Tryon Street at Sandy Avenue. Police say Johnson was not wearing a seat belt and speed appears to be a factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
