Mooresville Home Destroyed In Massive Fire
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A Mooresville home was destroyed Thursday morning after a massive fire.
“I saw the top left part of the house was on fire,” said Jose, a neighbor who lives on Misty Meadows Ct.
He and others called 911.
“It just happened so fast,” “It burned from left to right. Again, it just went pretty quick.”
Jose says the house caught fire around 10 Thursday morning. He says a man and woman lived there with their cat.
“I know how hard he worked on this house. I was just there a week ago helping him move some shelves and things like that,” said Jose.
“We had roughly 60 firefighters here form around the area,” said Neel Brawley, the Lake Norman Deputy Fire Chief, “it took us about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.”
Brawley says they initially struggled to get water to the scene. The closest hydrant is more than a half mile from the house.
“We set up a water shuttle from up the street here, so it was quite a challenge,” said Brawley.
The homeowners were away when the fire started. They arrived a few hours after firefighters put out the flames. Property tax records show the couple has owned the home since 2016 and that it’s valued at $650,000.
“This is really going to hurt him. I pray he’s going to be able to get through this,” said Jose.
Fire investigators still don’t know what caused the fire.
