Couples Are Out Thousands Of Dollars After Their Charlotte Wedding Venue Suddenly Closed
CHARLOTTE, NC. — Couples are out thousands of dollars after their Charlotte wedding venue suddenly closed. Those couples are rushing to find a new place for their big day.
Melissa Cantey has paid Noah’s Event Venue in west Charlotte over $3,000 for her big day. She found out by word of mouth on Friday, it’s closed for good.
“I was very emotional, very anxious. Not know what was going on. Wanted answers, but wasn’t getting anything,” says Cantey.
A bankruptcy judge in Utah ordered Noah’s to close all of its locations nationwide late last week. The company filed for bankruptcy in May.
The company sent an email to Cantey on Monday saying couples can file for an administrative claim. Adding: “Many building owners are willing to host events and are looking for new operators that can honor your event contracts.”
“I was just like, what are you serious? You emailed, you guys couldn’t even call?”
The big question: will these people get their money back? WCCB called and emailed to find out. We got no response.
An estimated 7,500 couples nationwide could be affected by this.
