Coroner’s Office Identifies Driver Killed After Tree Falls On Vehicle During Severe Weather In Fort Mill

FORT MILL, S.C. — The York County Coroner’s Office says 80-year-old Gertrude Meyer, of Charlotte, died from the injuries she sustained after a tree fell on her vehicle when severe weather hit our area last Thursday.

The accident happened on Pleasant Road which is three miles north of Fort Mill.  A tornado warning had just been issued for the area when the accident happened.

A confirmed tornado did hit a 17 mile stretch between Pineville and Matthews, according to the National Weather Service.  Get more details on that tornado HERE.

The National Weather Service has not confirmed that the tree that fell on Meyer’s vehicle was caused by a tornado.
