CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) — N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews have scheduled several closures this week as part of a $16.3 million project to improve the roadway and 22 bridges along I-277.
Each night this week the following will be closed from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day:
• The onramp from U.S. 74 West to I-277 Inner
• The offramp from I-277 Inner to U.S. 74 East (Exit 2B)
• The onramp from North Brevard Street to I-277 Inner
• The onramp from 11th street to I-277 Inner, and the offramp from I-277 Inner to 4th Street (Exit 2A)
Beginning Friday at 9 p.m., the offramp from I-277 Inner to U.S. 74 West (Exit 2B) and the offramp from I-277 Outer to College Street (Exit 1E) will be closed. These ramp closures will be in place until Monday, February 24th at 6:00 a.m.
All the work is weather permitting and subject to change. Detour information will be online at DriveNC.gov under Mecklenburg County.
Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution while going through the work zones and the detour routes. They also need to pay extra attention to the road for their own safety, as well as any passengers, occupants of other vehicles and the construction crews in the area.
