CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Missing 71-year-old Willie Gillespie Jr. has been located and reunited with his family.
Gillespie was found Sunday afternoon in good health.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is asking for the public’s assistance in location a missing 71-year-old man with cognitive issues.
According to a release, officers responded to a missing person call at the Double Tree Inn on W. Trade Street Friday around 11 p.m.
Officers were inform that Willie Gillespie Jr., who is from out of town, left his hotel room around 8:30 p.m. He was last seen wearing a plaid purple shirt, corduroy pants, and grey sneakers with orange trim.
Gillespie has been described as 5’5″ and 160 pounds with short gray hair.
Gillespie also left his coat and walking cane in the room when he left. In addition, he has early onset dementia and does not know the Charlotte area.
CMPD’s Missing Person Unit is currently working with our patrol units to locate Gillespie. CMPD’s Helicopter Unit has assisted in searching for him as well.
Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of Gillespie is asked to call 911, immediately.
