CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Black Fathers Rock! is an annual Black History Month celebration for fathers who are trailblazers in the community. The creator of the event is WCCB’s co-host of “Trending” Ryan Jor El.

Some of this year’s honorees include: General Counsel and Activist Toussaint Romain, Esq., Executive Director of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee Willie Ratchford, as well as community leader and Inspire the Fire CEO Dennis Reed, Jr.

“Growing up without a father posed many challenges, but let me know that I never wanted my children to be in that predicament,” Jor El said in a news release. “Black Fathers Rock spawned from the need to change the narrative of what it means to be a black father in today’s society while dispelling the notion that all of us are absent.”
