Two Suspects Charged With Larceny Of Matthews Business

MATTHEWS, N.C. — According to a news release, Matthews officers have arrested two suspects after responding to Conbraco Industries regarding a larceny in progress early Monday.

It was reported from business’s management that someone was seen on the surveillance system in a secure gated area of the business loading material into a car around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers observed a man and woman with their vehicle inside of the secured area with the hatch open containing approximately $2,000 worth of stolen material.

The suspects have been identified as 38-year-old Stephen Atkinson and 37-year-old Heather Smith, according to officers. Atkinson was charged with Felony Larceny, First Degree Trespass Enter or Remain and Simple Possession of a Schedule III Narcotic (Pills). Smith was charged with Felony Larceny and First Degree Trespass Enter or Remain.

Smith also had three outstanding warrants for Misdemeanor Larceny, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamine.
