County To Decide Soon If Panthers Fans Can Attend Home Opener
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Panthers players and coaches are being tested daily during training camp as they prepare for the season, but when they take the field against the Las Vegas Raiders next month it could be in an empty Bank of America Stadium.
Mecklenburg County health officials have been involved in everything the team is doing right now to stay safe
βWeβve been working with the panthers on their plans. Weβve reviewed where they are with their plans to this point, which includes how theyβre managing the players, how theyβre managing the staff, the testing that theyβre doing, but also what they would do once games started,β Mecklenburg County Public Health Director Dr. Gibbie Harris said.
Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey says itβs definitely different not having fans around at training camp and he knows there’s a good chance they wont see many on game days.
βWe miss the fans. We love the fans and they give us a lot of juice when we get out there, but based on what weβre hearing not sure if thereβs going to be fans or how many fans thereβs going to be we have to be able to adapt and make the most of it,” McCaffrey said.
A decision on how many fans will be allowed in the stands, if any at all, is coming soon.
