CHARLOTTE, N.C. — UNC Charlotte says they will delay in-person instruction of undergraduate and graduate classes until Thursday, October 1st.
After consulting with the UNC System and local health officials, UNCC has decided to begin classes online/remotely on Monday, September 7th, according to a news release.
UNCC Chancellor Sharon Gaber says, “The decision to adjust our plan was not made lightly. I recognize that these changes will be frustrating for some and a relief for others. However, this decision is made with the health and well-being of our students and employees as our top priorities. The additional time allows the county’s infection rate to further stabilize, creating a safer environment for our University and our community this fall. The safety of our campus will continue to guide all of our discussions and our planning.”
UNCC officials say they will hold a virtual town hall session for students and families at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26th (which will also be recorded and posted here).
UNC Charlotte staff say they are in close contact with local public health officials, and are continually assessing and changing current protocols to ensure the health and safety of those returning to campus.
