Lancaster Police Seek Information In Fatal Drug Overdose From March
LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says they are seeking more information on the death of Jason Pitts, 40, after an opioid overdose.
On Saturday, March 28th Pitts was landscaping for a Monroe resident until 5 p.m., and he was driving a 2010 black two-door Toyota Scion he borrowed from a friend, according to a news release.
Deputies say Pitts never attended a family function he had scheduled for the following Sunday, and on Monday, March 30th at 9:20 a.m. officers found Pitts dead in the front passenger seat of the Scion in a parking lot on South Wylie Street.
Investigators say an autopsy determined Pitts died of an opioid overdose, and they have not found anyone who was in contact with Pitts since he left his landscaping job on Saturday, March 28th and police found him dead.
Midlands Crime Stoppers say they will pay up to $1,000 for more information leading to an arrest in Pitts’ death.
“We are doing everything we can to get some answers for this family,” says Sheriff Barry Faile. “There’s a big gap from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning, and we have no doubt Mr. Pitts was moving about and interacting with folks. We hope someone who saw him or the Scion will contact us or Crime Stoppers to provide this vital information which could reveal the circumstances of his death. Information may be provided anonymously.”
Deputies say anyone with more information to call Crime Stoppers at 888-274-6372 or the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.
