Trump Announces Health Care Vision During Charlotte Campaign Stop
CHARLOTTE, NC – President Donald Trump laying out his “health care vision” during a campaign stop in Charlotte on Thursday.
The visit is the president’s 5th trip to North Carolina in the last month. On Thursday, he spoke to about 125 invited medical professionals at an airport hangar.
“We’re delivering better care with more choice and a much lower cost and working to ensure Americans have access to the care they need,” said Trump.
He unveiled a three pillar health plan saying that it will expand affordable insurance options, protect patients with per-existing conditions, reduce the cost of prescription drugs and end surprise medical billing.
“To know that they’re going to try and do everything they can to cut those costs down is wonderful,” said Mecklenburg County GOP Vice Chair Sarah Reidy-Jones.
She says she is encouraged by Trump’s speech saying there is still much to be done in health care.
“I think our president has been very busy cutting through a lot of red tape across the board so I think there is a lot more to do,” said Reidy-Jones.
Trump offered few details about the plan while bashing the Affordable Care Act and calling democrat’s health care plans a “socialist nightmare.” He then signed two, mostly symbolic executive orders that will protect ore-existing conditions, and curb surprise hospital billing.
Challenger and former vice president Joe Biden criticizing Trump Thursday night saying he’s repeatedly tried to take health care away from millions of Americans.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Trump’s executive order on pre-existing conditions “bogus.”
President Trump left Charlotte before 6pm for Jacksonville, Florida where he held a campaign rally.
