Wilson’s World Homeschool: Getting an Up-Close Look at the Northern Pine Snakes at the Riverbanks Zoo

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Things got a little reptilian this morning during Wilson’s visit with The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden when Sean Foley took us behind the scenes to introduce us to the Northern pine snake.  The Northern pine snake can grow as long as 6 feet, but they are non-venomous and spend most of their time underground.  These snakes are found in the Sandhills and the southern Coastal Plain of North Carolina.

The Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, S.C. is open, but for a limited number of visitors each day and reserved timed tickets are required for entry.  The are also offering Z-learning on-line programs.  For more information on the zoo’s hours, current programs, events and Z-learning go to their website riverbanks.org.  Or you can make a virtual visit by heading over to YouTube and checking out their channel.  And be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
