CMPD: 29-Year-Old Man Charged With Murder After Victim Dies Following West Charlotte Shooting

Charlotte police have charged a 29-year-old man with murder after the victim of a west Charlotte shooting died Saturday due to his severe injuries.

Homicide detectives identified David Lee Chambers as the suspect in the case on Friday after an investigation.

After an interview with CMPD, Chambers was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and larceny of a motor vehicle, police say.

The victim, identified as 24-year-old Tyrone Stinson, was pronounced dead by staff at Atrium Health on October 3rd due to the injuries he sustained in the shooting. Police say as a result, Chambers has been charged with Murder.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives say they are investigating a shooting at the intersection of Tuckaseegee Road and Fern Avenue after one victim sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot.

Officers responded to the shooting on October 1st at 12:40 p.m., and medics took the gunshot victim to a local hospital to be treated, according to a news release.

CMPD says the investigation is active, and anyone with more information should call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with a Homicide Unit detective.
