Panther’s PSL Owner Troubled By Organization’s Plan To Return Fans to BofA Stadium
CHARLOTTE, NC – Panther’s PSL owners say they’re upset with how the organization is handling the return of fans to the stadium.
Rain or shine. For the last 16 years. Keith Skinner and his crew are in the stands for Panther’s home games.
“Since I’ve been a PSL owner, I could probably count on two hands the number of games that I’ve missed,” said Skinner.
He says not much compares to the gameday atmosphere.
“I’ve met more new people downtown tailgating for the game. Meeting people up in the stands and just watching football. Loving it. Having fun,” said Skinner.
But his relationship with the organization has soured.
“Since then it’s been a ball. We’ve had so much fun. And then 2020 comes, and everything changes,” said Skinner.
Skinner says the Panthers gave PSL owners a refund option at the beginning of the season. Or they could opt-in for the games.
“I’m going to opt-in because you know, I was hoping to be able to go see a game, but then they kind of changed things,” said Skinner.
He says it wasn’t until after they opted in, they learned how the ticketing would be handled.
Only the lower bowl would be open initially. His 4 tickets are in the 500 section and cost about $2500 for 10 games. The Panthers offered better seats, but he’d have to pay.
“It would have been three games for a grand total of $1700 almost $1800 dollars,” said Skinner.
A more than double increase in the price per ticket.
“If you want to go, you’re being forced to go where they want you to go and paying for it,” said Skinner.
Skinner says he feels mistreated. And after 16 years of enjoying games from the stands, he says it may be time to be a spectator from the couch.
“I will support the team, yes. I will watch the games. I won’t go,” said Skinner.
WCCB reached out to the Panthers for this story and have not heard back.
