Deputies: Cocaine, Over $4,000 Seized In Investigative Stop In Catawba

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged after an investigative stop led to the seizure of one kilogram of powder cocaine in Catawba County Monday, deputies say.

Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group (SEG) conducted the stop along Highway 70 in Catawba on Thomas Lineberger and after searching the vehicle one kilogram of powder cocaine and $4,328 in cash was located.

Deputies say Lineberger was charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Cocaine by Transportation and Maintaining a Vehicle for the use or storage of Controlled Substances.

“The work of our Special Enforcement Group is having a major impact on drug dealers in our county. The level of success we are having in aggressively pursuing drug traffickers is made possible through our continued partnering with other law enforcement agencies,” Catawba County Sheriff Donald Brown said.

More arrests are expected to be made.

This remains an ongoing investigation worked in conjunction with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and the Newton Police Department.
