Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged a man for the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old who was shot near a storage facility in southeast Charlotte in early August.
Police say 22-year-old Montico Ny’ke Baskin Peoples was identified in the Jarele Blackson murder case after an investigation and warrants were issued for his arrest.
Peoples was arrested on Friday by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) with the assistance of the Rock Hill Police Department and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). According to CMPD, Peoples has been charged with Murder.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says homicide detectives are investigating a deadly shooting in southeast Charlotte.
Officers were called to Independence Boulevard at Wallace Lane around 3pm in reference to a shooting. MEDIC pronounced 18-year-old Jarele Blackson dead at that location. WCCB can confirm that police have roped off a crime scene in the parking lot of the Life Storage building.
