Charlotte Football Pushing On After Third Postponed Game
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the third time this season the Charlotte 49ers had their football game canceled or postponed last week.
“It’s been frustrating as all get out,” said Charlotte head coach Will Healy.
Late Thursday night FIU postponed the scheduled game against Charlotte due to an uptick of positive COVID-19 cases in the football program. The 49ers practiced on Friday and then had the weekend off.
It’s a new week and that means another opportunity to prepare for a new team, this week, UTEP. Healy is trying hard to keep the team positive despite so much negative surrounding them with the postponed games. On Tuesday Healy told the team before practice his goal was to see them smile.
βIt makes me happy when I see our guys smile, because itβs a way to show that weβre enjoying this experience,β Healy said. βThatβs what I worry about when youβre disappointed over and over and over again. Whatβs their experience like? Winning [at North Texas] obviously helped that, such a big emotional win and starting to build some momentum, I would probably worry about it a little bit more.”
Charlotte is scheduled to host UTEP at noon on Saturday.
