North Carolina COVID Surge And News On A Vaccine
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New COVID concerns as North Carolina cases spike. Nearly 3,000 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
That’s the second highest daily increase since the pandemic began. There are now nearly 286,000 coronavirus cases statewide, nearly 1,200 people are hospitalized and 4,548 people have died.
Mecklenburg County has the most cases in the state by far with 35,588.
State health officials are warning that the holidays are not the time to let your guard down.
In addition, a second vaccine trial is getting underway right here in the Charlotte area that Tryon Medical partners has taken part in.
A Moderna vaccine trail with about 30,000 people worldwide just wrapped up. Data is still being collected.
