Wilson’s World: Kicking off the 2020 WCCB Charlotte’s CW and Salvation Army Virtual Angel Tree
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The WCCB Salvation Army Virtual Angel Tree is now live on WCCB’s website and ready for angels to be chosen. And this year due to all of the problems, there is is an even greater need for people to adopt an angel. Major Wilma Mason with the Salvation Army talked with Wilson about this year’s Angel Tree and how it will be different than in previous years and the increase of the children that need help this year.
Wilson talked with Lauren Acosta Huckleberry, Vice President of Acosta Heating ,Cooling and Electrical about their partnership with the Salvation Army and this year’s Angel Tree.
Families register children age 12 and under to receive new Christmas gifts for the holidays. Once registered, each child’s information is placed on an angel to be adopted. Individuals, families, groups, and companies are given the opportunity to adopt angels and purchase Christmas gifts for these children. The Angel Tree helps children in 21 counties throughout the Charlotte area.
All gifts are then returned, sorted and distributed to the families prior to Christmas Day. Through the involvement of the community, many lives are touched and much joy is spread through the Angel Tree program.
