Man Accused Of Stabbing Two People In Hickory Arrested After Standoff

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of stabbing two people, including his mother, has been arrested after barricading himself inside a Hickory home Monday morning, according to Catawba County deputies.

Deputies responded around 3 a.m. to a residence on 16th Street Dr. NE in Hickory after a woman was stabbed. Upon arrival, they found Rebecca Hahn with at least one stab wound to her torso.

The victim told deputies that her son, 29-year-old Billy Joe Hahn Jr., stabbed her while both were in a camper on the property. Billy Hahn fled prior to law enforcements arrival.

Rebecca Hahn was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center where she died due to her stab wounds. An arrest warrant charging Hahn Jr. with murder was then issued, deputies say.

Around 9:15 a.m., deputies and investigators located the suspect’s car at a home on 28th Street NE, around three miles away from the camper. When officials approached they located a man who had been stabbed in the vehicle.

The second stabbed victim, identified as Kris Goodson, was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he is in serious condition, deputies say.

While Goodson was being treated, deputies and investigators learned that Hahn Jr. was barricaded inside an 28th Street NE residence adjacent to where the suspect’s car was parked.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team and the Catawba County Critical Incident and De-Escalation Team responded to the location. Hahn Jr. was later taken into custody by the STAR Team.

According to deputies, Hahn Jr. has been served with the Murder Warrant and is being held without bond at the Catawba County Detention Facility. Charges against Hahn for the stabbing of Goodson are pending.
