CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man died in a southwest Charlotte crash after being shot several times Thursday night, sparking a homicide investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Detectives responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Arrowood Road near Interstate 77 around 10:15 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a black Mercedes that had crashed off the roadway. They soon realized that the driver had been shot multiple times.
Medic transported the victim, identified as 25-year-old Kharee Chauncy Cartwright, with life-threatening injuries to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
