Roundup: Vance, Weddington And Others Claim State Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The high school basketball season has now come to a close with state champions being crowned in the NCHSAA. The Charlotte area was well represented in the championship games with six schools playing.

Weddington’s boys beat Northwood 56-47 to win their first state championship in school history. Ardrey Kell lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Millbrook 67-65. Lincoln Charter fell to Wilson Prep 65-58.

The Vance girls claimed their second straight state championship with a dominating 74-38 win over Garner in 4A. In 2A Shelby took down Farmville Central 77-62. While Carson won their first state title 51-40 over Asheboro.
