Employees Watched In Disbelief As A Car Crashed Through Steele Creek Business

CHARLOTTE —  Frightening moments at a Charlotte business.  The driver of a car crashed through a door of the business while employees stood just a few feet away.

It happened Saturday at the Leadership Martial Arts Studio in Steele Creek.  The video is unbelievable.  Instructors were teaching a class when the car crashed through the door.

“From what we can tell, the guy hit the curve at such a speed, he jumped over our neighbor’s detention pond, and then through the wall of our facility.  He probably came a good 45 feet in the facility with his vehicle,” says Derek Richardson, owner of Leadership Martial Arts Studio.

Medic rushed to the business and transported the driver, identified as 42-year-old Dante Duffy, to the hospital.  No one else was hurt.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Duffy has been released from the hospital and since been charged with reckless driving to endanger, no operators license and driving while impaired.
