Storms Cease for Sunny Sunday
Heavy storms, strong-to-severe at times, should blow through by the overnight into Sunday morning.
A low-pressure system and its corresponding cold front are currently sweeping into the Carolinas, bringing showers and storms to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area through the first half of the weekend. While some storms may be heavy and strong at times, most storms should be in the non-severe department. Localized flash flooding and gusty straight-line winds will be the biggest threats tonight. While a stray shower or storm may wander through our area early Sunday morning, abundant sunshine should return by the afternoon. Expect highs near 70° in the High Country and near-80° everywhere else. The good times keep rolling into the start of the workweek, although a second weak (and largely dry) cold front arrives by Wednesday, bringing more clouds and cooling temperatures down to near-normal values. Most neighborhoods should remain dry until at least next weekend.
