Panthers Select South Carolina Cornerback Jaycee Horn 8th Overall

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers continue to take steps to improve their defense. The Panthers selected South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn eighth overall.

Carolina fielded calls leading up to their selection to trade back but ultimately decided to stay put at eight. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was still available, but the Panthers had Horn rated higher on their draft board.

“We saw someone that could come in and make an immediate impact as a starter at corner,” Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said.

Horn had two career interceptions in three seasons played at South Carolina.  At 6’1″ 205 lbs Horn is considered to be excellent in press man coverage.
