Gasline Hacking Leads To Gasoline Hoarding: How We Are Making It Worse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Both North and South Carolina are under states of emergency and price gouging laws are in effect. It’s the result of the hacking of the Colonial Pipeline, which caused a temporary shortage along the east coast. And even though experts say not to load up on fuel, it has not stopped drivers from doing just that.
GasBuddy Analyst Patrick De Hann says both the hacking and the hoarding are causing problems: “It’s both. So far, we are in day 5 of the Colonial Pipeline shutdown and we lost, or realized, 500 gallons of refined products that would be flowing through this pipeline. And that is a sizeable number.”
