Police: Lincoln County Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison After Stabbing His Father To Death

Police sentenced a Lincoln County man to over 20 years in prison on Thursday, after he plead guilty to stabbing his own father to death back in 2018.

Deputies say Nicholas Lynch, 24, plead guilty to second degree murder in the death of his father, Oswald Lynch, 59, in Lincoln County Superior Court in May of 2021.

Lynch faces 16 to 20 years in prison for his involvement in the fatal stabbing of his father that occurred on February 1st, 2018, according to a news release.

LINCOLNTON, NC — A 21-year-old Lincoln County man has been charged with stabbing his father to death Thursday afternoon.

Nicholas Lynch is charged with the 2nd Degree Murder of his father, 59-year-old Oswald Lynch.

The incident happened around 3:22pm at a home on Tomes Road. Deputies responded to a domestic dispute call and found the Oswald lying outside the front doorway with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to CHS-Lincoln with life threatening injuries, but later died from his wounds. Nicholas was treated at the scene for minor injuries and then taken in for questioning.

Deputies say the stabbing resulted from a dispute between the father and son. Officials say a large knife used in the stabbing was recovered at the scene.
