Scattered Storms Will Bring Threat for Heavy Rain Over the Next Few Days
- Patchy AM Fog
- Scattered Showers this AM
- PM Rain/Storms
- Heat Indices 95+ Wed/Thu
Moisture from the Gulf will continue to stream into the region today. This means more of those tropical feels with afternoon rain and storms likely. Clouds will keep severe threat low, but can’t rule out an isolated severe storm this afternoon. We’re now more than an inch above average for rainfall for the month with most of that coming yesterday – Kaitlin wrote a web story about that here. With so much moisture to work with, we could see more heavy downpours like Sunday and Monday which means there is a chance for localized flooding with rainfall rates of 2″+ per hour possible with any storm. Highs will reach the mid-80s today. Heat indices will soar Wednesday and Thursday with those ‘feel like’ temps topping out in the mid to upper 90s. Afternoon rain and storm chances will continue through the end of the week. A cold front will into the area late Friday into Saturday. This will cut a smidge of the humidity for the weekend but expect temps to remain warm with highs in the mid-80s.
