Crime Stoppers Offer $50,000 Reward In Attempted Murder Investigation Of Duke Energy Worker

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crime Stoppers is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in an east Charlotte attempted murder investigation.

The shooting investigation sparked after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to The Plaza, off of East Sugar Creek Road, Friday night following an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Officers arrived around 9:30 p.m. and located the victim, a Duke Energy line technician, who had been shot.

Officials said the victim was approached by two unknown suspects at gunpoint while performing routine work. Medic transported the victim to Atrium Health with life threatening injuries.

“Our employees are our family and nothing is more important than their safety. This event is a reminder of the many hazards we often face to keep the lights on for our customers and communities,” a Duke Energy spokesperson said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with our teammate, and we are committed to helping him and his family as he recovers. We will continue working closely with law enforcement in their investigation to ensure that accountability is applied appropriately.”

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
