Original Story (7/28/21):

TROUTMAN, N.C. — Two people were found dead after what officials are calling a suspicious house fire in Troutman. Investigators are trying to piece together what happened. Exclusive video shows flames engulfing a house on Loram Drive near Holmfield Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Detectives say the oldest son that lived at the house left after a domestic situation before that fire started and went to his grandmother’s house in Mooresville. Detectives say three other people were last known to be in the home.

A neighbor tells WCCB he heard what he thinks were gunshots before the fire broke out.

“Fireworks, but I think it was gunshots. We heard the sirens from the ambulance and the firemen and I came out and saw the flames come out from the back of my house,” said Angel Granados.

“Why isn’t anyone answering their cell phones? Because my other neighbor was calling all three of their cell phones and nobody was answering. To me, that’s weird, and where was the mom,” asked Pam Hamlett.

The Iredell County sheriff’s office says the deaths and the fire are being treated as suspicious and an investigation is underway. Autopsies will be conducted to identify the victims and their cause of death.
