Tornado Warnings Issued For Parts Of The WCCB Viewing Area
NORTH CAROLINA — Tornado warnings have been issued throughout the WCCB viewing area as Tropical Depression Fred moves north.Β Tornado warnings have been issued in Alexander, Iredell, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Avery, Yancey, Mitchell, and Wilkes Counties.
A confirmed tornado was on the ground on Old Mountain Road and West Iredell Circle in the Statesville area.
The tornado caused damage by uprooting hardwoods and snapping softwoods, with the most significant damage being a stand of pine trees on Waugh Farm Road that were snapped as high as 20 feet above the ground.
Officials say a few homes endured minor structural damages during the event.
