Bojangles Closes Stores For 2 Days Giving Employees Unpaid Time Off

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bojangles officials say company-owned stores will close on two different Mondays to give workers a mental health break amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The restaurant chain announced that stores will close on Monday, August 30th and Monday, September 13th, following a long and challenging year in the restaurant industry.

This closure will give close to 8,000 crew members and managers a well-deserved break.

“We appreciate everything our dedicated team has done for Bojangles this past year,” said Bojangles CEO Jose Armario. “From navigating a global pandemic to adjusting to new safety measures to picking up shifts for those unable to come in for work, we’ve asked, and they’ve delivered. But this hasn’t been easy, and we know many people are physically and emotionally drained, so we hope these extra two days off will provide rest and refreshment.”

Bojangles officials say this move comes in response to the industrywide labor shortages and other stressors their employees have had to deal with while working through the pandemic.

Officials say they also plan on rolling out additional benefits soon to further support employees.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this creates for our customers, but we hope they’ll stop by Tuesday through Sunday, and all other Mondays to be greeted with the same Southern hospitality and smiles we’re known for – perhaps even bigger after a day off,” added Armario.
