Will Healy’s Son Eli Motivates Charlotte Ahead Of Season Opener
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The touchdownβs kept piling up last October when Charlotte traveled to Durham and was handed a 53-19 beatdown by the hands of the Blue Devils. Itβs a game that still lives in the minds of the 49ers.
“When you go back and watch the film, itβs not a fun film to watch,” said Charlotte linebacker Luke Martin. “But you gotta go back and learn from your mistakes.”
As much as the team watches the film to learn from the game, Will Healyβs son Eli has taken it to a completely different level
“Eli, my six year old, taped the Duke game from last year,” said Healy. “And every time I walk in the house heβs watching us get blown out by Duke. And Iβm like can you please stop watching this game. Heβs like. No daddy, Iβm going to have it on whenever you get home.”
Maybe itβs just Eli trying to keep his dad and the team on their toes.
βAnd I donβt know if this is a six year-olds way of trying to motivate me, but itβs definitely been frustrating watching an empty stadium and them score 60 on us.β
But itβs a new year now and Charlotte believes theyβre much improved.
βWeβve made a lot of strides, and you know theyβre going to have the same chip on their shoulder to have a special season, and itβs a tremendous opportunity.β
